چکیده

Background: Cephalosporins are major antimicrobials used to treat serious infections. However, their effectiveness is being compromised by the emergence of extended spectrum beta lactamases (ESBL). The present study was aimed characterize ESBL producing Escherichia coli from healthy and diarrheic cattle calves. Methods: A total 52 rectal swabs were collected calves between August 2019 March 2020. Phenotypically E. characterized based on morphology, microscopy biochemical tests. Extended Spectrum Beta Lactamases (ESBL) initial screening performed using cefpodoxime, ceftazidime, cefepime aztreonam antibiotics. confirmation strains conducted through phenotypic identification kit double disc diffusion test (DDDT). Molecular characterization PCR amplification blaCTX-M, bla TEM AmpC genes. Plasmid profiling isolates carried out. Result: Phenotypically, out 51 isolated, 05 (9.8%) confirmed as strains. revealed 01 (20%), 04 (80%) 03 (60%) positive for genes, respectively. showed that 60% harboring plasmids varying size number. plasmid number among ranged 0-4 per isolate varied 900bp greater than 10kb. relatively high rates producers in found highlights existence with certain carrying mobile genetic elements livestock probable disseminators resistance, thus imposing public health threat.

Lytic Activity of Isolated Phage from Milk Against Extended-Spectrum Beta-Lactamase Escherichia coli

Background and purpose: Escherichia coli (E.coli) is the most common cause of urinary tract infection. The treatment strategy has been hampered by the emergence of broad-spectrum beta-lactamase-producing E.coli and its resistance to most antibiotics. Bacteriophages are suggested as an alternative treatment option. This study aimed at evaluating the lytic activity of isolated phage from unpaste...

Phenotypic and Molecular Characterization of Extended-Spectrum Beta-Lactamase-Producing Escherichia coli in Bangladesh

BACKGROUND Resistance to cephalosporins in Enterobacteriaceae is mainly due to the production of extended-spectrum beta-lactamase (ESBL). Little is known about ESBL-producing bacteria in Bangladesh. Therefore, the study presents results of phenotypic and molecular characterization of ESBL-producing Escherichia coli from hospitals in Bangladesh. METHODS A total of 339 E. coli isolated from pat...

antibacterial activity of some plant extracts against extended- spectrum beta-lactamase producing escherichia coli isolates

conclusions the alcoholic extract of p. harmala was very effective against the selected esbl-producing e. coli isolates harboring the tem gene. therefore, it could be suggested as an antibacterial agent in the future. more researches are necessary for detecting the mechanism of this plant’s behavior and its pharmacological effects. results results of this study showed that in disk diffusion met...

Extended spectrum beta lactamase producing E.coli isolated from Gorgan, North of Iran

Abstract Background and objectives: The increase of ESBL producing E.coli can create a tremendous difficult y for the health system. These isolates leads to rapid transmission of causative genes to other clinically important bacteria and synchronously increased resistant to other antibiotics. This study was carried out to determine the prevalence of this isolate and related genes in Gorgan, Nor...

Characterization of Extended-Spectrum Beta-lactamase from Escherichia coli and Klebsiella Species from North Eastern Nigeria.

INTRODUCTION Resistance to antimicrobials has become a serious global health concern complicating treatment strategies and increasing health-care costs. The extended-spectrum beta-lactamase producing bacteria stand out as bacteria of great epidemic concern among Gram negative bacilli. Control and appropriate interventions for antimicrobial resistance depend on effective surveillance and knowled...
